Discover Sweden’s southernmost mountains in the province of Dalecarlia (Dalarna). This self-guided hiking experience takes place at Grövelsjön Mountain Station, your base for 3-5 days as you explore this pristine mountain region. Enjoy a self-guided hike on one of the many marked trails, and take in the views from a look-out point, or spend a lazy day in the sun, reading a book by the lodge. You can also rent a canoe or bike or go fishing.

Is it for me?
This is a self-guided trip. Explore the mountains around Grövelsjön Mountain Station on foot . There are no group departure dates for the trip; instead you choose the dates you’d like to visit. The region offers a variety of hiking options, ranging from easy to more difficult. You should be in good hiking condition and enjoy hiking in various terrains.

Departure Dates:
This trip can start any day from June 22 to August 23, 2008. Packages are also available with a Sunday-Thursday or Thursday-Sunday stay from August 24 to September 28, 2008.

5 days / 4 nights: $793/person

4 days / 3 nights: $623/person

3 days / 2 nights: $425/person

Prices are per person based on double occupancy in rooms in the lodge’s main building, for the time period June 22 to August 23, 2008. Please contact us for prices for August 24 to September 28, 2008 as well as for single occupancy rates.

Inclusions:

2-4 nights of accommodations in double rooms with private facilities, bed linens and all meals.

Not Included:
Transportation to/from the mountain station, pre and post trip hotel accommodations, guided day excursions or other organized activities, personal purchases, travel insurance, alcoholic beverages.

Accommodations:
Spend 2-4 nights double rooms at Grövelsjön Mountain Station with private facilities.

Meals:
All meals are included from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on the last day. The restaurant at the mountain station serves delightful Swedish delicacies and local specialties.

Location:
This hiking adventure takes place on in the mountains of Dalecarlia, in western Sweden along the border to Norway. It starts and ends at Grövelsjön Mountain Station. Grövelsjön can be reached by train from Stockholm to Mora (4 hrs) and bus from Mora to Grövelsjön (3,5-4 hrs). Total travel time from Stockholm is approximately 8 hours.
