Sweden Hiking Adventures
High Coast Self-Guided Hiking Adventure

Go to:   Trip Details  |  Tour Operator More Information

The High Coast region has been placed on UNESCO's World heritage list and is Sweden's highest coastal area, with mountains plunging down into the sea. The irregular topography of the region, with lakes, inlets and flat hills up to 350 meters above sea level, has been shaped by glacial retreat and new land rising up from the sea.

Hike from inn to inn along the beautiful High Coast Trail on this wonderful adventure. Each day offers varying terrain and beautiful views. Your luggage is transported for you to the next inn and you only carry a day pack with lunch and personal items. Enjoy a swim in a lake or in the ocean along the way and a warm shower in the evening.

Is it for me?
This trip offers a moderate to challenging hiking experience in hilly terrain, with some rewarding climbs and panoramic overlooks. Daily hiking distance is approximately 10-15 kilometers. You set your own pace and make as many stops as you wish. You will have route notes and maps, and the High Coast Trail is also well marked. Your luggage is transported for you from inn to inn and you just hike with a day pack, filled with your personal items as well as water and a packed lunch.

"The trip was exactly as presented.  We really appreciated Anna-Lena meeting us at the train station despite our late night arrival.  She was extremely helpful.  We absolutely loved the hike.  The scenery couldn’t have more inspiring and interesting. The maps we were given were very clear. The only confusion was not realizing that some of the orange markings led off the main path to side trails (to huts, etc.)  And thanks for the great weather! Wow!  We must start by telling you what a fantastic experience we had at the Lovvik B&B. Bengt-Ake and Monica Lindquist could not have been better hosts.  And the meals they served us could have been out of a gourmet cookbook.  The lunches we were given from all sources were also amazing – more than we could eat despite the calories we were expending. And Manneminne was a place not to be missed (with great meals, as well). Finally Sara at The Harnosand B&B was also very accommodating. This hike was everything we had imagined and more. I recommend it for anyone who likes to hike and wants to see a very beautiful and interesting part of Sweden."
