NORTH SWEDISH DRAFT HORSE
The horses on the Nordic Saga Horseback Adventure are Scandinavian cold-blooded draft horses. In Sweden they are called North Swedish Horses (nordsvensk). They are sturdy, sure-footed, pleasant, versatile and great for anything from pulling timber in the woods to riding dressage. They look like fairy-tale horses with their long, thick manes and tails.
The horses are trained with a method of Natural Horsemanship taught by Stefan Forsman and Antti Walnestedt. The saddles are first and foremost Swedish Cavalry saddles, but there are also a few Western and Australian saddles for use. As a bridle, a side pull bridle is used which can be considered in between a halter and hackamore. Long western-style reins are used for contact with the horse.
