This horseback adventure takes place in southern Sweden's highlands. Ride through remote areas rich in moose, wild boar, deer, fox and lynx as well as owl and eagle. Explore deep, enchanted woods, with great opportunities for trotting and cantering, clear lakes and scenic overlooks. Pass old homesteads and beautiful farms in an area rich in culture and history. Spend one evening enjoying a wilderness gourmet feast at a secluded site and listen to fairytales around the campfire after a day of great riding, before returning to the comfortable rooms at the farm.

Is it for me?
The horseback riding on this trip is rated as intermediate. You ride along forest paths and remote country roads on sturdy, North Swedish Draft Horses and other native Scandinavian breeds. You should be comfortable at a walk, trot and canter and enjoy varied terrain on horseback. The first day will be an introductory day with instruction in horsemanship and getting to know your horse. This is a great trip if you are traveling through southern Sweden and would like to add some adventure to your visit.

Accommodations:
Spend 3-6 nights in a comfortable farm house. There are two double rooms and one triple room, each with private bathrooms.

Meals:
All meals are included from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on the last day. Enjoy delicious home cooked meals at the farm and lunch in the great outdoors.

Horses:
The horses are of North Swedish breed, which is a beautiful draft horse native to Sweden. They are sturdy and strong and perfect for the deep woods of southern Sweden.

Location:
This horseback riding adventure takes place in southern Sweden’s highlands and the province of Östergötland. It starts and ends in Norra Vi, where Kalvefall Farm is located. Transfers can be arranged from Tranås and Linköping for an additional cost. Both Tranås and Linköping can be reached by train from Göteborg and Stockholm, approximately 2,5-3 hours of travel time.
